Wisdom
Wisdom can be the ability to do something. The wisdom that comes from above is from God. Prov.15:33 "The fear of the LORD is the instruction of wisdom; and before honour is humility." This is Wisdom from above: Godly fear such as is aquired in the school of humility. Wisdom is the understanding of reality. If one has wisdom it is a profit to them and to others. The gain is better than silver and gold. Whoever listens to wisdom dwells secure in his or her life. Prov. 2:1 "My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee;" Prov. 3:5 "Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding." Wisdom is given or made known to man that he may hear, understand, see and make known the glory, or multitude, of the deeds of Yahweh. Wisdom starts from her dwelling place, the mouth of GOD . Wisdom exercises dominion spreading like a river, giving herself as food & drink to a hearing heart. Wisdom tests what it hears and sees whether what one is hearing is deep or shallow - how far off - whose order it is, man or GOD'S. Now let us look at salvation with the idea of seeing with reality. Salvation is a gift given by grace. The word grace can be the same as salvation. Ps. 119:58 "I intreated thy favour with my whole heart: be merciful unto me according to thy word." The Hebrew word most often translated "favor" is the word
Face Ps. 25:14-16 "The secret of the LORD is with them
that fear him; and he will shew them his covenant. Turn Your face to me. The word gracious in English is face
in Hebrew. Ps. 84:12 "O LORD of hosts, blessed is the man that trusteth in thee." He bestows favor and honor, which is glory in Hebrew:
Grace is given, it is not hesed (mercy), which is a covenant term. Hesed demands a favorable attitude from both parties. Grace is freely given. It can mean favor or mercy. It is given only as long as the giver desires. Grace really never becomes one's posession, for it comes from another. It can be sought for. It can be lost. Favor cannot be assumed as a right and compelled. It is Yahweh's nature to be gracious. In the account of Ruth and Boaz, Boaz was gracious to Ruth. Yahweh was gracious to Ruth through Boaz. God was gracious to Moses Exodus 34:6 "And the LORD passed by before him, and proclaimed, The LORD, The LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth," Exodus 33:19 "And he said, I will make all my goodness pass before thee, and I will proclaim the name of the LORD before thee; and will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will shew mercy on whom I will shew mercy." Exodus 3:14 "And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you." Genesis 32:31 "And as he passed over Penuel the sun rose upon him, and he halted upon his thigh." God was gracious. It is Yahweh's nature to be gracious. Romans 3:23-27 "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus. Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith." Noah found grace. He did not ask for grace. Genesis 6:8 "But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD." Numbers 6:25 "The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee:" Luke 5:17-26 "And it came to pass on a certain day, as he was teaching, that there were Pharisees and doctors of the law sitting by, which were come out of every town of Galilee, and Judaea, and Jerusalem: and the power of the Lord was present to heal them."And, behold, men brought in a bed a man which was taken with a palsy: and they sought means to bring him in, and to lay him before him. And when they could not find by what way they might bring him in because of the multitude, they went upon the housetop, and let him down through the tiling with his couch into the midst before Jesus. And when he saw their faith, he said unto him, Man, thy sins are forgiven thee. And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, Who is this which speaketh blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone? But when Jesus perceived their thoughts, he answering said unto them, What reason ye in your hearts? Whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Rise up and walk? But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power upon earth to forgive sins, (he said unto the sick of the palsy,) I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy couch, and go into thine house. And immediately he rose up before them, and took up that whereon he lay, and departed to his own house, glorifying God. And they were all amazed, and they glorified God, and were filled with fear, saying, We have seen strange things to day. Luke 7:11-16 "And it came to pass the day after, that he went into a city called Nain; and many of his disciples went with him, and much people.: Now when he came nigh to the gate of the city, behold, there was a dead man carried out, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow: and much people of the city was with her. And when the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her, and said unto her, Weep not. And he came and touched the bier: and they that bare him stood still. And he said, Young man, I say unto thee, Arise. And he that was dead sat up, and began to speak. And he delivered him to his mother. And there came a fear on all: and they glorified God, saying, That a great prophet is risen up among us; and, That God hath visited his people." John 1:14 "And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth." |
